Coalition for Islamic Humanitarian Organisations Ghana (CIHOG) is an umbrella body for all Islamic humanitarian organizations in Ghana. The overriding goal for its establishment is to promote the understanding of humanitarian services in nation building cognizant of the fact that no country can see any meaningful and sustainable development without strong humanitarian services. In solemn declaration and affirmation of CIHOG's commitment to the principle of total honesty, fundamental rights and freedom of member organization, the Coalition is non-profit, non-partisan and independent. CIHOG started off in January 2022 and currently works with over 300 Islamic-faith based non-governmental organizations across the country. CIHOG is recognised by the government as a reputable body that facilitates and coordinates the operations of all Islamic humanitarian organizations in Ghana. CIHOG also presents a united front to drive the interests of member organisations at the national level. Since its inception, CIHOG has been playing the role of a liaison between member organizations and state institutions, government, Diplomatic missions and international donors and looking to make greater impact hence exploring opportunities for partnerships with reputable organizations to achieve more and be more relevant in the dynamic environment that they operate. CIHOG has a working Memorandum of Understanding for Cooperation with Zongo and Inner-City Development Secretariat (ZICDS) Office of the President to enhance strategic coordination and ensure that CIHOG’S activities impact on the development of the Zongo communities in Ghana.

Objectives

Facilitating Access to International Support and Recognition

To give member organizations the support they need to drive change and make greater impact by bringing them closer to International donors, giving them recommendation etc.

Harnessing Collective Strength for Greater Humanitarian Impact

To harness the strengths of all Islamic humanitarian organizations for greater impact.

Liaison Between Member Organizations and Strategic Institutions

To harness the strengths of all Islamic humanitarian organizations for greater impact.

Capacity Building and Organizational Sustainability

To train and equip member organizations through capacity building workshops to ensure their sustainability.

Community Education on Peace, Tolerance, and Extremism Prevention

To conduct Community Education Programs through workshops and seminars to educate communities about the dangers of extremism and the importance of peace and tolerance.

06.

Fostering Interfaith Dialogue and Mutual Understanding

To promote interfaith dialogues to foster understanding and cooperation among different religious groups promoting the culture of peace and mutual respect.

07.

Empowering Women Through Education and Leadership Development.

To promote Women Empowerment by running various programs aimed at empowering them through education, vocational training and leadership development, ensuring they play a significant role in nation building.

Serving as In-Country Representative for International Donors

To serve as Representative for international donors who do not have offices in Ghana.
